CS371p Spring 2021 Week 14: Albert C. Trevino

What did you do this past week?

This past week, I spent most of my time back home, helping my parents move. I also spent the latter half of the week beginning to work on Life and trying to get that done!

What’s in your way?

My sleep schedule is in my way right now as I have managed to mess it up VERY badly. I’m gonna really try to fix it tonight and tomorrow because it really does affect my productivity.

What will you do next week?

This next week I will finish up Life as well as beginning studying for my two exams I have coming up very soon. This is stressful, but remembering that the semester’s end is right around the corner keeps me motivated.

If you read it, what did you think of the The Joel Test?

The Joel Test was very interesting, it really breaks down the work environment to a science and provides great insight into what makes a software organization an elite one. The reading also gives us job-seeking programmers an idea of what to look for when applying for jobs!

What was your experience of virtual and dynamic binding?

I think I understood these concepts pretty well, although it did get a bit confusing when figuring out which instances of objects get the virtual keyword in different scenarios.

What made you happy this week?

I got to hang out with a friend this week that I hadn’t seen in a very long time, and we had a good time together, so that was probably the highlight of my week! Other than that, I was able to use this week to really focus on school and also take care of myself which was much needed!

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My tip-of-the-week is to go to sleep at a reasonable hour. I know that during these tough times, it may be hard, and I’m the front runner in not sleeping well. It’s something I struggle with and I don’t want you to struggle with it as well!
