CS371p Spring 2021 Week 6: Albert C. Trevino
What did you do this past week?
This week my main focus was trying to regain from the week of snow. I had to get some groceries and catch up on some school work that had been pushed back.
What’s in your way?
Similar to previous weeks, procrastination is in my way. Having a week off of school did not help this problem, but it did give me some time to work on school work. I am procrastinating less, but it is still something that is in my way.
What will you do next week?
This upcoming week will be mainly focused on school work. Most of the assignments that had been pushed back are becoming due. Project 2 for Object Oriented Programming will be my main focus to complete.
If you read it, what did you think of the Single Responsibility Principle?
It was very interesting and provided a different point of view on responsibilities. It seemed pretty simple from the general examples that were given, but it is definitely more complex the more that I think about it.
What was your experience of Voting and consts?
The idea of consts was pretty straightforward in my opinion. I think I understand the concept pretty well. As for voting, the easy solution makes sense to me, but as more edge cases come about, it gets more complex and takes more to implement.
How did you fare in the storm?
I am super grateful that my power never went out. I don’t know what I would have done if it had. However, I did lose running water for a few days, so making food and using the facilities was a bit rough. Thankfully all of my classes were considerate and put our health first. This year is already off to a crazy start, and I thought it couldn’t get any crazier than 2020.
What made you happy this week?
Some of my high school friends came into town this week, so it was a great time going to Zilker Park, and hanging out with them two for a few hours.
What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?
Since the concept of pointers is something that I have had trouble grasping, I was reading some articles about pointers in cpp. I found this awesome article showing in depth illustrations to explain pointers and shows exactly what happens when working with different pointers.
