What did you do this past week?

This past week was a great week for me. I was able to catch up on some of my work because had this week off from band. Usually my weekdays are filled with rehearsals, so my nights are never free. Because we didn’t go to the TCU game, I was able to use this week to catch up on work and spend some good time with friends and family. I was able to make great progress on project 2 with my team towards the end of the week and I’m very happy with how it is turning out.

What’s in your way?

I think that the biggest obstacle in my way right now is understanding how the API’s work. I haven’t quite wrapped my head around how I’m going to pull the data for 400 instances, but I think I’m close and was able to start small. I think this week I will get it.

What will you do next week?

Like I had mentioned, I am having some trouble understanding API’s so I think I will spend some time this week trying to figure that out. Other than that, I think I will try to finish a project for a different class, as well as study for TWO exams that I have this week. I don’t predict them to be too challenging but you know how exams go. I’m not too worried about it, as long as I set aside some time early in the week for them.

If you read it, what did you think of the Paper #6: Single Responsibility Principle?

I have heard of the Single Responsibility Principle before and it was nice to match those concepts with the current project for this class. I was able to visualize the different responsibilities that come with react while reading the paper again. It was a nice new perspective on how react handles responsibilities.

What was your experience of factorial, reduce, and operators?

My experience went pretty well. I did well on all the quizzes and I was able to solve the exercises fairly quickly. I had no problems and was very curious when understanding the operators for python. Python continues to be such a strange language.

What made you happy this week?

My softball team unfortunately lost our game this week, but it was so much fun. Being able to compete so closely with another team that was clearly better than us was such a nice feeling. I can’t wait for this weeks game. I also hung out with some friends for a night and that was such a good time away from school and just getting closer with them.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My pick-of-the-week is to try out VIM. I don’t know why but I wanted to try it out at least for this first phase, and I’ve honestly been enjoying it. Call me crazy if you want but I found it to be so smooth going back and forth from my directory to the files.
